Graphic Design Creative Process

I've been so focused on creating for my spring markets that when I finally stopped to post an update about my work online I ran into an unsettling problem. My old designs didn't fully represent who I am and were just kind of drab. I want my work to be represented by something that's pretty and fun so I set out on designing something I felt represented me.

The first thing I did was create a new logo and them made some business cards. I had been planning on printing and cutting business cards by hand for my markets but I wouldn't be able to make them look this nice and ink for my printer is super expensive. I looked at about 5 different printing services online and the shipping cost almost as much as the cards themselves. I like to make photo albums of my daughter as she grows in my free time and usually get my photos printed at Walmart so on a whim I checked if they printed business cards and they do! They are reasonably priced and have free shipping! I'm sure they will not be American Psycho quality, but they will have to do!

Another thing I did to simplify my business card was to change all of my social media handles to the same thing! Something that slipped my mind while designing them is the coupon code at the bottom. I thought it was a great idea at the time for markets although now I realize it will be a little weird to send with online orders. I am not too worried about it though... they can use the code too and get 15% off their next order.

Next I took my old designs and combined them with the vibes of the new logo and cards. I wouldn't have chosen pink and purple as my colors and that makes me like it even more! I made this Etsy shop banner and then changed the dimensions of the document and rearranged it a little to be my Facebook page banner as well.

I sat down at the computer today to print some labels for my new batch of body butters and was hit with another realization... my website was outdated and didn't match the new design! I changed my document size again and added some cute stamps and flowers to serve as my background. I ended up changing the opacity of the image so that it didn't compete with my website header so much.

As I am typing this, I am realizing that I had a really good time designing these images! I feel really confident about my online presence and now I don't have to worry about feeling self-conscious if someone looks me up. I used Canva to design all of these images and I really like the site for Graphic design. I have been using the site to design all of my product labels as well and I would recommend trying it out!
