Hey! I'm so excited about this post! I'll be showing each step of how I make my Cherry Blossom Earrings so that you can make your own pair!
Supplies you will need...
Crochet Flower
Embroidery Thread
Earring Findings
21mm Short Fishhook Earwire - Silver Coated and Nickel Free
(You could use any kind you like. I have a metal sensitivity and these do not bother my ears.)
Open 4 mm Jump Rings
Daisy Earring Backs
I get my earring findings from Hobby Lobby. They are often 50% so check the weekly advertisement before you go! I also got my embroitery thread and crochet needle from there. I purchased the fabric glue on Amazon.com.
When I first became interested in Micro crochet and creating earrings and hair clips, I experimented with so many patterns and diagrams I found Pinterest and Google. All of the flowers I made had rounded petals and big holes in the middle...or an unsightly mess of single crochets in the middle.
They didn't look great and I wasn't happy with them until I found the perfect pattern that makes flowers with pointed petals and uses a magic circle for the center. I know that these don't look exactly like real cherry blossom flowers but I think they are the perfect size and shape for earrings.
I have also experimented with changing the color of the thread I use and number of petals to create different flowers. I've made Forget Me Nots, Sunflowers, and Periwinkles using this pattern! Here is a link to her Lilac Flower Pattern!

She also made a YouTube video for the pattern
I use her pattern and add an extra petal so there are 5 instead of 4. I have also used her pattern to make Lilac Flower Earrings and they came out so cute!
After I make the Flowers I use a large sewing needle to sew through the middle of the flower and between the petals to create a star design in the center. I also added a knot through the middle using a lighter colored yarn and it really made them look polished.
One thing I've learned while creating these small flowers is that they usually need 3 different colors and design elements to look visually interesting.
I tie all ends with a triple knot and add a tiny dot of Fabric glue to the back so I never have to worry about them coming undone, I usually weave in my ends, but these are so tiny and delicate I feel like it would make the project look bulky and messy. The glue I use is transparent and waterproof, so it won't ever become sticky again.
After they dry, I thread an open ring through the top stich of a petal. It's important that the rings sits flat against the flower so that when they are dangling the flower faces forward.
I add the ear wire to the open ring and use a small set of jewelry plyers to close the ring. I also adjust the ring so that the open portion is hidden behind the thread of the flower.
All that is left to do is add a daisy earring back to your project and it is ready to wear or be given as a gift!
I design my earring cards on Canva.com and print them on thick cardstock. I them put them into a self-sealing cellophane bag to protect the crochet flowers from the elements at craft shows and to keep them safe during shipping. I recently started storing all of my crochet work in plastic bags as soon as I am finished making it because I feel like it prevents any dust, dander, or damage from spoiling a perfect creation over time.
I hope you like your new earrings and that you had fun making them! I think these are such a unique and special gift to give! I made three different colors and have them listed on my Etsy Shop if anyone would like to gift a pair to a friend. I sell these earrings for $12 a pair at craft shows and $15 with Free Shipping online.
Here is an instructional video I made for my TikTok about how I make my earrings. I hope you like it!
Here are a few of the promo videos I made for my earrings. I posted them on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok as well as the Etsy listing for my earrings. I had to change the music on them when I uploaded them to YouTube because the music is copyrighted.
I hope you liked this Blog Post! I haven't decided what my next post and videos will be about yet. Somethings I would like to post about in the future are...
Updated Soap Saver Pattern
Sunflower Crochet Earrings
How to make Crochet Hair Clips
What I Learned from my First Craft Show
Making Crochet Videos on Tiktok
One other short thing before I go to give my daughter a nap! (lol) I started creating and posting videos about my work on TikTok and started to get so much positive feedback! My Instagram engagement has been kind of static and depressing in the last few years so it makes me so happy people are actually seeing my work on TikTok! I am going to try to document more of what I do in video format and share the videos I make on all of my social media platforms!
Talk to you soon!
