Hey! I'm so happy that I just uploaded my first crochet tutorial to Youtube! It has been a goal of mine to start making longer videos and sharing some of my techniques, modifications, and free patterns. Here is the link if you would like to watch it and make some fruit cats!
My next Youtube video will be sharing one of my patterns for free and showing you how to create these cute little fruit slice friend.
I have been making too many fruit themed things lately so I am switching to making flower themed plushies for the Spring. Here are some patterns I plan on releasing in April... Sweet Bunny Plushies, Flower Cat Modifications, and Mini Flower Cows. I am also working on a Bakery Friends Pattern Bundle that is just like my Little Fruit Friends but all treat themed.
I think I would also like to create a video talking about the good, bad, and ugly side of writing and releasing your own patterns. I have been having a great time meeting so many awesome new people but I never expected my cat pattern to be as popular as it is. I'm honestly really surprised because its not like I reinvented the wheel or made something ground breaking. There are tons of cat loaf patterns on the internet I guess people just like the size, shape, and color of mine.
Because my pattern is popular a lot of really negative people have inserted themselves into my life. I've gotten mean emails from influencers and people pretending to be me, and my pattern pages, pictures, and videos have been stolen and used to scam people. It just feels so yucky and I wish someone would have warned me about the darker side of the crochet community.
I am answering all of the Etsy messages I receive to help people with my patterns and I am trying to respond to messages on social media but I feel like I need to take a step back from the internet. I want to get back to creating and being the happy person that I know I truly am and thats kind of hard when I spend the little free time dealing with legal stuff.
Turning on comment filters have defiantly helped but they filter out some of my friends comments too so if your comment is missing I haven't deleted it it just gets flagged accidentally sometimes.
Anyway!! That's the only negative I have had to deal with and the positive has far out weighted it. I am grateful for so many people reaching out and sharing their kind words and awesome projects with me. I am trying to let the negative go and I think that is why I would like to make a video talking about so if the same thing is happening to other crochets we won't feel so alone or unprepared.
I am so proud of my New Orleans shawl and just the fact that I was able to design and release this pattern totally cancels out the negativity. I have always been obsessed with fancy shawls like the SisLove shawls and Lost in Time shawls and designing one of my own has always been a dream of mine. I know I am totally not at that level yet but this is a great start! It was so challenging to keep the stitch count for each row on track and to make the rows look great because I used FPDC and BPDC and its a little tricky keeping the repeat right.
My first market of the year is in a few weeks so I really need to get focused on creating and making my set up the best it can possibly be. I will try and post updates to social media when I can but I am totally going to use market prep as an excuse for disappearing for a few weeks. lol I hope everyone who reads this has an awesome day and I'll talk to you soon! - Annie
